Lost and broken, Celaena Sardothien’s only thought is to avenge the savage death of her dearest friend: as the King of Adarlan’s Assassin, she is bound to serve this tyrant, but he will pay for what he did. Any hope Celaena has of destroying the king lies in answers to be found in Wendlyn. Sacrificing his future, Chaol, the Captain of the King’s Guard, has sent Celaena there to protect her, but her darkest demons lay in that same place. If she can overcome them, she will be Adarlan’s biggest threat – and his own toughest enemy.
While Celaena learns of her true destiny, and the eyes of Erilea are on Wendlyn, a brutal and beastly force is preparing to take to the skies. Will Celaena find the strength not only to win her own battles, but to fight a war that could pit her loyalties to her own people against those she has grown to love?
For those of you, who have not read the first two books, this book is worth reading 🙂
I first came across Celaena last year, during a time I was obsessed with warrior Princess stories (I still am ;)). Cel was perfect, she had the skills, the wit, the arrogance and the two guys.
It’s the story about a young princess Aelin Ashryver Galathynius who lost her parents, her kingdom and her people to the King of Adarlan, who wants to banish magic. Half frozen to death, she was found by Arobynn Hamel, who trains her (tortures too) and out emerges the most feared assassin Celaena Sardothien. She kills but retains her humanity and then somehow ends up a champion for the man who destroyed everything, the King of Adarlan.
Cel goes through many a trials and torture. She lost her first love Sam, her friend the Princess of Eyllwe, Nehemia and so much more. She befriends Dorian, the King of Adarlan’s son and falls in love with the king’s Captain of the guards, Chaol.
The end result of the story is that she has to recognize her abilities, trust herself, gather allies and save her people or maybe even the world.
This series had me in its clutches from the start. Not a single point in the story was boring, it was full of passion, emotions. You get pulled under the spell of the book. Last year, when the third book had not come yet, I nearly cried and am crying now for the 4th book. There are 6 books for the series to complete and the thought of waiting another 3 whole years to find out what happens! well, I believe its worth the wait.
Cel also had the right amount of Love in her life, when reading the 2nd book I pinned for Chaol, but now I’m pinning for Rowen the immortal Fae
Please try this book and I hope you enjoy it, tell me what you think about the characters.
Happy Reading Everyone 🙂
